Paul B. Thompson is the Founder, President and Chief Investment Officer of Ascension Capital Advisors, Inc.

Paul began his career in the investment management business over 40 years ago, and over that time has become a respected leader in the financial services industry. To this day, he enjoys speaking on the topic of money management.

Early in his career, Paul was involved with portfolio management and client development for a small advisory firm, and he eventually became the owner of a Dallas-based investment advisory and brokerage firm. This firm was sold in 1991, and Paul moved back to Houston where he founded Ascension Capital in 1997.

A native Houstonian, Paul attended The Kinkaid School, Texas Christian University, and the University of Texas in Austin where he earned a B.A. degree in business and finance from the McCombs School of Business. Paul also sailed for The University of Texas Sailing Team.

Paul currently serves as a deacon at Second Baptist Church, and serves on the Board of Directors for The A.D. Players, Carolina Creek Christian Camp and “On Every Word, Inc.” Paul is also a member of the “C” Club of Houston, and he has also served on The University of Texas Parents’ Advisory Board and served as President of the Second Baptist School Parents’ Association.

Paul has been married to his wife, Pam, for almost 40 years. They have two children, Paul Thompson, Jr. (wife, Suzy) and Caroline Knapp (husband, Wesley) and four grandchildren. Paul still enjoys sailing in his free time.
