The Stock Market in a U.S. Presidential Election Year

Politics and investment decision-making don’t mix very well.

Some investors may have chosen not to own stocks either during President Trump or President Biden’s tenures for personal reasons, based on perceptions concerning policy matters. That would have been a mistake.

Stocks have risen substantially over the past eight years under both administrations, and currently trade near all-time highs.  As investment professionals, we want what’s best for our clients and our country, but we avoid bringing any personal political bias to our work. Doing so can be costly.
